Govt Middle School Kawhar awaits upgradation

Kawhar (Kandi): The inhabitants of this area are up in arms against the authorities for failing to upgrade the Government Middle School Kawhar into a high school.
The inhabitants said that in absence of a high school, the students have to move to Chandoosa to pursue secondary level education.
“After passing eight standard, I had no option but to move to Chandoosa for further education. The high school is located seven kilometers away from here and I have to cover the distance on foot in absence of transport facility” said Abid Hussain a student.
The locals claim that they have made umpteen requests to the district education authorities to upgrade the middle school.
“But the request met with deaf ears. Around 200 students are enrolled in Govt Middle School Kawhar. Despite qualifying for the up gradation, the Education Department is sitting over the issue,” said Imtiyaz Ahmad a local.
The majority population of Kawhar belongs to Schedule tribe. “Most of the people here are living in abject poverty. We want to provide our wards proper education for their better future. However, lack of educational institutions in the area is proving to be a big hurdle in their prosperity,” the locals said.
