Taj serves legal notice to Dr Kamaal
AKSHAY AZAD
Jammu, July 12: Coming as another major setback to already strife ridden state coalition government, Congress Minister Taj Mohiuddin, has served a legal notice to the Additional General Secretary of National Conference Dr Mustafa Kamaal seeking public apology from him for alleging that he won the last assembly elections with Army’s help.
Taj in his notice has threatened to file a civil defamation case of Rs 5 Crore against Dr Kamaal if he did not seek public apology within a month.
When contacted, Taj Mohiuddin, who is also the Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control admitted to have served the notice to Dr Kamal. “The allegation of winning elections with the support of army is totally baseless. He should bear in mind that Uri constituency where from I won recorded more than 80 percent polling. Allegations have tarnished my image in public. Such an attitude is not expected from a senior leader like Dr Kamaal”
“In case he apologizes publicly, I will not take any further action but otherwise I will file a civil defamation case of Rs. 5 Crore” he said.
He however made it clear that it was an issue between him and Dr Mustafa Kamal and the coalition government was not involved in the matter.
