Will fight till goal is achieved: Salahuddin

NISAR AHMED THOKAR

Islamabad, July 12:  The Supreme Commander of Hizbul Mujahideen and the chairman of United Jihad Council, Syed Salahuddin on Thursday reiterated that struggle in Kashmir would continue till the goal is achieved.
Paying tributes to Kashmiri martyrs who were gunned down by soldiers of Maharaja on 13 July 1931 he said, “The current struggle in Kashmir is an extension of the movement which was launched against despotic Maharaja. From 1931 till date more than half a million Kashmiris have offered sacrifices to achieve the cherished goal”, he said.
Flaying New Delhi’s intransigence he said that New Delhi’s undemocratic attitude and dilly dallying tactics have been major hurdle in the way of peace in the region.
He said that Kashmiris were not averse to indo-Pak friendly relations. However he made it clear that relations and trade with India should not be at the cost of Kashmiris sacrifices.
Terming right to self-determination as the only acceptable solution the UJC chief maintained that internal autonomy or any formula aimed at bifurcation of Kashmir was not acceptable to the people of Kashmir. Salahuddin reiterated that the ongoing struggle for right to self-determination would continue at all fronts unless and until New Delhi withdraws its forces from Kashmiris’ soil.
