JK Bank cruise into semis
14TH POLICE MEMORIAL FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT
Srinagar, July 13: The JK Bank football club cruised their way into the semi-final of the ongoing 14th Police Memorial football tournament defeating West Bengal in their quarterfinal clash at Bakshi Stadium here on Wednesday.
In the match JK Bank defeated Bengal side by 1-0. Both the teams started well but it was JK Bank who had the maximum ball possession in the game. Khalid Qayoom scored the header in the 43rd min and gave one goal lead to the Bankmen. In the second half WB Police tried with some attacking football moves but JK Bank defence proved too strong to crack for them. No team could score in the second half and thus match ended at 1-0. By winning match JK Bank qualified for the semi finals where they will meet Punjab Police Jallandhar. In another semi-final RCF Kapurthala will be against Uttrakhand Police.
Chairman JK Bank Sports Board Tafazul Hussain witnessed the match and congratulated team for their win. The tournament is being organised by JK Police Dept under the aegis of JKFA.
