TRC Nowgam
This refers to news about TRC Nowgam (Greater Kashmir 8th July 2012).
The State Government had decided to set up main Railway Station at Nowgam Srinagar. To utilize the services of said Railway Station, it was decided by the Government for facilitation of tourists coming by rail to valley to construct a TRC which would provide all the facilities for the tourists under one roof. In this connection, 100 Kannals of land was acquired by District Development Commissioner Budgam for construction of Tourist Complex and accordingly the said land was transferred to the Directorate of Tourism Kashmir for construction of said complex.
The work on this complex was taken up in the year 2006-07 after Northern Railways constructed a huge Railway complex near the said TRC. The State Government accordingly accorded Administrative Approval for construction of said Tourist Complex. Right from the date of start of construction, Srinagar Development Authority or Srinagar Municipality at no stage has made objection for construction of this complex. This complex after completion has been inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister in the year 2010 in which dignitaries of various Departments also participated.
Lots of private infrastructure has come up in the shape of showrooms, educational institutions and hotels in and around the said TRC complex. These infrastructures are obviously coming up perhaps after the proper permission of Srinagar Municipality/Srinagar Development Authority.
