Mufti Azam seeks security for shrines

Srinagar, July 15: Reacting to the devastating fire at shrine of Baba Hanief-ud-Din Reshi (RA) in Budgam last night, recently appointed Mufti Azam Nasir-ul-Islam has appeal the government to provide security to shrines. After visiting the central Kashmir shrine the Grand Mufti said the government should restore the shrine to its pristine glory.
 Mufti Azam however, clarified that there would be no hartal on Monday. He appealed people to “be cautious of elements who want create a sectarian divide.”
 Meanwhile, Ghulam Rasool Hami, chairman of the Mutteheda Ulema Ahl-e-Sunnat (MUAS), accused the government of failing to protect the religious places in Kashmir. "This is a conspiracy to destroy the ancient religious assets of Muslims in Kashmir," Hami said.
 JKIM Chief Patron Moulana Abass Ansari and Jamiat-e-Himayat-ul-Islam Moulvi Khursheed Ahmed Qanungo expressed grief over the incident and asked people to maintain calm. Minister for Agriculture Ghulam Hassan Mir expressed grief and shock over the incident. He expressed sympathies with the people of the area. He appealed them to not to pay heed on rumours and maintain calm.
