PDP extends support

Srinagar, July 15: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has decided to support UPA Presidential candidate Pranab Mukherjee. The decision of the party was conveyed to Mukherjee when he called the party Patron Mufti Mohammed Sayeed at his residence here today.
A statement issued by PDP said Mukherjee expressed his gratitude to Mufti for his party’s support and said he appreciate it.
 Mufti said he knew Mukherjee for a long time as an able, mature and talented colleague. He said he expected Mukherjee to win comfortably and remarked that he would make one of the best presidents.
 Mukherjee in his half an hour meeting with Mufti was accompanied by the JKPCC chief Shri Saif-ud-Din Soz, MoS Parliamentary affairs, Rajive Shukla and others.
 Senior PDP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Beig told Mukharjee that the party was sure that he would win to the prestige of the institution of the President. Besides Beig senior party leader Moulvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari, General Secretary Muhammad Dillawar Mir and PDP’s chief spokesperson Naeem Akhtar were present on the occasion.
