Welcome to Kashmir
Before you step in, you must know what the place is all about
VISITOR'S PARADISE
SHOIAB SHAH
With the onset of the summer and the temperature soaring, as expected, Kashmir turns everyone's favourite.
The State of Jammu and Kashmir encompasses a mountainous region in the heart of Asia, with boundaries touching both South and Central Asia. Surrounded by countries like Pakistan, regions of India, China and Afghanistan and enclosing 86,000 square miles, three times more than the size of the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Belgium, all combined, it’s bigger than almost 87 member countries of the United Nations. The valley had always been one of the most favorite spots for any sightseer, thanks to Almighty Allah for the picturesque scenery and the pleasant climate. Apart from the so called militancy nothing has ever come as an impediment for these tourists for approaching to this place to spend their holidays. The pleasant climate, the eye-catching waters bodies, the hill spots and the exquisite mughal gardens are some of the reasons these tourists choose this land for their holidays. From the past few years’ things have changed and there are some other things that at present describe this small but beautiful valley. The valley has been broadened in its description, thanks to the government, the main stream parties, and the people at large.
Welcome to a place where you will witness the real natural beauty, a spot which has rightly been labeled as paradise. A place where you will encounter a tremendous talent, but just that it is being untapped, a place where the hospitality offered by the natives here have been the quality since generations. A land where people have been tested for their patience since years and years, a spot that has seen times where there was just one working day out of a whole week & where people had been denied their Sunday holiday while all other working days are caught in the strikes and simultaneous curfews and thus in a way people were forced to treat them as holidays. A place which bears the brunt of militancy and a democratic government at once, a place where one is perplexed whether the government or the mainstream parties control, run and rule the people. That’s Kashmir. A place where the mobile network and other mobile services like messaging etc are activated and deactivated and suspended at will by the government with no justified reason, a place where every effort of government is to suppress the voice of the people and that the outside world doesn’t come to know about the plight of the people living therein & happenings in the valley, be it by way of jamming the mobile network, the banning of the television channel and the blocking of the newsprint and the newspapers.
For those who want to know what happens in Kashmir, they must know this all. I welcome them.
