Bomai, (Sopore), July 16: Assuring people of fulfilling all their genuine demands in a phased manner, the Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand Monday said that Sopore constituency in north Kashmir “would be developed on modern lines for which a massive development plan has been formulated.”
Addressing a public gathering at Dharpora Bomai, Tara Chand said the Government of India is “keen for development of Jammu and Kashmir and its liberal funding helped the Government to complete and implement several big projects.”
He said the State witnessed all round development during the tenure of Ghulan Nabi Azad as chief Minister of J&K. “The formation of NC-Congress coalition was aimed to take forward the projects initiated by him (Azad).”
He said Centre has approved a number of projects under PHE, Power, R&B and Education and Health sectors and “on completion of these projects the development scenario in the state would get a fillip.”
Senior Congress leader, GM Saroori, who was present on the occasion, asked people to be foresighted and “differentiate between right and wrong.”
“The tenure of Ghulam Nabi Azad as Chief Minister of J&K was the golden period in the history of Jammu and Kashmir. The developments and work culture during his period is worth remembering,” he said.
MLA Sopore Haji Abdur Rasheed said that people of Sopore are very intelligent and know to differentiate between progress “registered at present and during the past.” “I always worked and shall work for the betterment of the people of Sopore,” he said.
Earlier, the Deputy Chief Minister reviewed the progress of the works undertaken for the development of Sopore town, particularly by the Housing Department
Tara Chand asked officers to speed up work on all ongoing projects and ensure that all projects are completed in time. He asked officers to submit the utilization certificates so that more projects, awaiting UCs, are cleared from the Centre.
