Dr Inder Singh to get lifetime achievement award
IRIA Conference in Srinagar on July 18
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, July 16: Indian Radiological and Imaging Association (IRIA) is holding a Continuous Medical Education Programme (CMEP) and Annual General Body meeting of Jammu and Kashmir Chapter on Wednesday (July 18) at Nageen Club here.
Renowned radiologists from Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh region would participate in the conference.
As a part of the programme a detailed scientific session would be held in which MRIs, CT scan and Dopplar would be discussed.
On the occasion the IRIA would present life time achievement award to Dr Inder Singh, one of the senior most radiologists of the state.
The conference would discuss the recent notification issued by the Government of India stating that 6-months radiology training would be provided to graduate doctors. “It is a matter of concern for us as the government doesn’t allow trained radiologist to work at more than two centers. It is strange that qualified persons are being barred and under qualified persons are being encouraged to join the field which they are not aware of,” said one of the doctors, who would be taking part in the conference.
“Irony is that there are 200 ultrasound centres in Srinagar while there are only 20 qualified radiologists in the city,” he said. “The issue of untrained professionals handling these units touches our skin.”
The Conference would make participants aware about the guidelines issued by Atomic Energy Regulatory Board for X-ray and ultrasound centres.
