Follow Islamic principles, avoid profiteering; Mirwaiz tells traders

Srinagar, July 16: Valley’s head priest and senior separatist leader Mirwaiz Dr Umar Farooq on Monday said Mantra to prosperous business vis-à-vis promotion of brand Kashmir was in adherence of Islamic principles even as he asked the traders to desist from black marketing and profiteering.
 The Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman said this while addressing a gathering at the swearing in ceremony of elected representatives of the Jamia Market Traders Federation  (JMTF) where Javed Ahmed Zargar and Tariq Ahmed Masoodi were sworn in as President and General Secretary, respectively.
 Dr Mirwaiz said Kashmir was “not only a serious political issue but  important on the economic front as well” adding that majority of people in the Valley were associated with business.
 The Mirwaiz said this was why apart from looking for solution to Kashmir issue there was a need to seek “economic independence” as well.
 Prominent among others who attended the event include Chairman, Kashmir Economic Alliance and head of Kashmir Traders Federation and Manufacturers, Muhammad Yasin Khan and Beopar Mandal Maharaj Gunj President, Siraj Ud Din Punjabi.
 Talking to Greater Kashmir after the swearing in ceremony,  Zargar, who was sworn in as President for the third consecutive time, said he would continue to work for the upliftment of the traders of Shaher-e-Khaas in general and Nowhatta in particular.
