Nayeem Khan visits Ratsun
Says Govt Has Failed To Protect Religious Places
Srinagar, July 16: Senior pro-freedom leader and National Front Chairman Nayeem Ahmad Khan Monday accused the J&K Government of failing to protect religious places.
Addressing a public gathering at Ratsun Beeru, where the 300-year-old Sufi shrine was gutted in a fire incident on Sunday, Nayeem said: “The so-called Government has failed to protect the religious places. So people must take measures to protect these places themselves.”
The Government, Khan alleged, has “already failed to protect common citizens and is now failing to protect places of worship. It should take the responsibility in gutting of the shrine of Dastageer Sahab (RA) at Khanyar recently and Dargah of Baba Haneefuldin Reshi (RA) at Beeru.”
Khan lauded the people of Beeru for exhibiting patience after the tragic incident. “The designs of those elements which are hell bent to sabotage the freedom movement can be defeated only when people take responsibility to protect their places of faith themselves,” Khan said.
He said “such elements have the lone goal of dividing the people of Kashmir. So it is very important for people to be united so that anti-movement elements are defeated.”
Khan said that people of Kashmir are very sad because their centers of faith, identity and heritage are in danger. “But at the same time Kashmiris are aware about the importance of movement for which they have rendered tremendous sacrifices. So people have to step in to protect themselves and their places of worship,” he said.
