Governor meets Chotay Taray

Srinagar, July 17: Governor, NN Vohra Tuesday visited Chotay Taray Foundation Special School-cum-Rehabilitation Centre for Physically and Mentally Challenged Children at Kursoo, Rajbagh.
“In all, 60 physically and mentally challenged children are being provided facilities of speech therapy, behavioral modification, vocational training and education by this Foundation, which was established in 2003,” an official handout said.
The Governor went around the Physiotherapy, Rehabilitation Psychology, Speech Therapy sections, Vocational Education Centre and the educational classes for the Severe, Mild and Moderate categories of affected children. He interacted with some of the children.
The Governor was briefed by Arjumand Makhdoomi, President, Chotay Taray Foundation, about the facilities being provided by this NGO to the physically and mentally challenged children.
The Governor lauded the initiative of the Foundation, adding that such an effort would go a long way in making real difference in the lives of these children. “Regretting that a suitable piece of land had not been allotted to this NGO in the past six years he desired to personally speak in the matter to the Divisional Commissioner,” the handout said.
The Governor, who was presented an attractive flower pot made by the children, observed that, as during last year, he would provide help to the Foundation.
Earlier, on arrival at the Chotay Taray Foundation, the Governor was received by the Management and Special Educators of the Foundation.
