Protest in Jammu colonies against erratic power supply

Jammu, July 19: Following night-long power cuts, residents of various parts of Jammu today took to streets and held protest demonstrations against the unscheduled load-shedding in the city.
Over 300 people, including women, from various colonies of Satwari and Belicharana blocked the Satwari Chowk on the National Highway to protest the power failure in the area during the night.
The protestors, who raised anti-government slogans, even clashed with police. Protesters said, “The normal life of people has been disturbed due to erratic power supply that too for long hours. PDD is resorting 12 to 18 hour long unscheduled power cuts”.
After a one-and-a-half hour blockade, traffic was restored on the highway.
People also held protests in Bohri Patta area over the power cuts throughout the night.
Earlier, people blocked a road in New Plot area and held demonstrations against the unscheduled power cuts in the city.
