Brick makers demand rate list
Srinagar, July 20: The Brick Kiln Owners Association today urged the administration to “issue rate list of bricks” for smooth functioning of the industry.
“We are suffering lot of inconvenience in absence of rate list by the government. Everyday customers accuse us of loot and black marketing which is not true. Rather the fact remains that in absence of any rate list from the government, rates vary,” Zahoor Ahmad, President of BKOA said.
“If government won’t issue rate list in coming days, we will be forced to close our establishments, which at the same time will effect the livelihood of many households,” he said, adding that “government should also take in confidence brick kiln owners before issuing any rate list.”
When contacted, Deputy Commissioner, Budgam , Khurshid Shah said : “Government is holding deliberations and in next few days we will come up with the rate list for bricks .”
