Govt wakes up to fire incidents at valley Shrines

Srinagar, July 20: The state government has asked state police to investigate the recent incidents of fire and sabotage at different sufi shrines across the valley.
According to sources, Chief Minister Omer Abdullah has asked Director General of Police to constitute teams for investigations into these incidents apart from ensuring safety and security of the religious places.
Reliable sources told KNS the Chief Minister has called a meeting of police officials and security experts to discuss measures for ensuring safety of shrines and religious places including those of non-mulsims.
Meanwhile, MoS for home Nasir Aslam Wani told KNS, the government has decided to take stringent measures for protection of religious places. “We have tightened security and vigil around these religious places”, Wani said.
Pressure from people and different religious organisations was mounting on the government to take measures for safety of religious places after many incidents of sabotage following the gutting of Dastgeer Sahab (RA) shrine at Khanyar.
Incidents of sabotage and fire were later reported from Budgam, Pampore and Tral areas. KNS
