Jora calls for joint efforts to promote tourism

Srinagar, July 20: Minister for Tourism and Culture, Nawang Rigzin Jora has hailed the efforts of Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) for promotion of tourism industry in Jammu and Kashmir.
He also congratulated the TAAI for commemorating its 13th year of Operations in J&K as its active chapter.
The Minister was speaking at the Award Ceremony of TAAI which was held here at Srinagar this evening, immediately after concluding of its annual meeting.
The Minister gave away awards to over 15 members of TAAI family for their outstanding performance in the field of Tour and Travel Industry rendered by them during last year.
Jora hoped that TAAI will continue its endeavours to promote tourism industry in the state and ensured it every possible assistance from the government in this regard, an official statement said.
The Minister called for joint efforts for promotion of tourism in the state and urged for providing quality services and best possible hospitality to the tourists so that they can return to their home with sweet memories.
The Minister said that the boom in tourism witnessed during the last year is dividend of peace and tranquillity in the state and this year too “we expect 3 fold increases in the tourist influx, as the people of J&K have ensured harmony and peace despite provocations from the elements inimical to the prosperity and development of the state.”
Jora said the government plans to launch a worldwide vigorous publicity campaign to showcase state’s rich tourism potential.
Director Tourism Kashmir Tulat Parvez also spoke on the occasion and threw light on the initiatives taken by state Tourism Department for promotion and showcasing of tourism potential in the state.
He hailed the efforts of TAAI for promotion of tourism industry in the state.
He said this year the valley would surpass all previous tourist records visiting to tourist spots. He said concerted efforts are being paid to develop new potential spots besides upgradation of tourist infrastructure for convenience of visiting tourists.
He hoped that all the Tour and Travel Associations would continue to provide their support for giving more fillip to the tourism industry in the state.
Tulat on the occasion was honoured by a memento by Minister for Tourism on behalf of TAAI for “rendering best services by the Tourism Department for tourism promotion in Kashmir.”
