Sarpanch unleashes terror at Asham: Hurriyat (G)
Srinagar, July 20: Hurriyat Conference (G) on Friday alleged that the Sarpanch has created an atmosphere of fear and terror in the Asham Sonawari area of Bandipora district.
“Enjoying the patronage of a senior leader of National Conference, the Sarpanch has made miserable the life of people in the area. He has been a government gunman and these days he is harassing people on the pattern of Ikhwanis,” the Hurriyat spokesman Ayaz Akbar alleged.
Meanwhile, the spokesman termed the continued house arrest of amalgam chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani as cowardice and failure of Omar Abdullah led government.
“Geelani is not only placed under continued house arrest but is also prevented from offering his Friday prayers. Restrictions on the political activities of pro-freedom leaders have belied all the government claims that everything is going on rightly and that there is complete peace in part of the state,” said Ayaz Akbar, daring the chief minister Omar Abdullah to lift restrictions on the political activities of Geelani and fight him on political turf.
Akbar has expressed serious concern over the way the police arrested senior separatist leader Mushtaq-ul-Islam on Thursday as is depicted in the picture appearing in today’s edition of local newspapers here.
