‘Achan stench making our lives miserable’
MUCH against the agreement with we people, government some years back started work on improving the dumping site at Achan, while Economic Reconstruction Agency was allotted the work in collaboration with the Srinagar Municipal Corporation.
But the project has failed as there is no respite for we people of nearby areas. Due to the project failure, the dumping site stenches a lot and the same makes our lives miserable. The foul smell has triggered havoc in the area.
Recently the State Pollution Control Board officials on our request visited the site to take stock of the situation, which is proving killing for our lives. We are not even able to breathe properly while the continued stench has given rise to many diseases.
Also a fluid like substance leaking from Achan dumping site has left our once fertile fields barren. We are in a big trouble. We request the Chief Secretary Madhdav Lal and MLA Eidgah Mubarak Gul to personally look into the matter.
