Standard books to be translated into J&K languages: Sibal

Srinagar, July 21: Union Human Resource Development Ministry has decided to take up preservation of J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages Cultural’s rich manuscript wealth under national preservation mission.
 The Ministry would also take up translation of standard books of different languages into local languages of J&K and vice versa.
 This was announced by the Union HRD Minister, Kapil Sibal, announced at a function organized by the Academy at its Lal Mandi Headquarters.
 He was responding to certain proposals which were put forth by Secretary JKAACL, Khalid Bashir Ahmad while speaking about the ongoing and future projects of the Academy.
 Khalid spoke briefly about the activities of the Academy and in particular highlighted the need for digitization and preservation of the Academy’s rich manuscript collection, a translation wing to transfer classics of different languages into the languages of J&K and the vice versa.
 On the occasion, a power point presentation was also made on the multi crore Tehzeeb Mahal being set up at Srinagar as the hub of art, culture and literary activities.
 Responding to the demand by Jnanpith awardee and noted Kashmiri poet, Rehman Rahi, for restarting the practice of having national news reels and documentaries dubbed in Kashmiri language, Sibal said that he would take up the matter with the concerned ministry.
 Sibal assured the writers of all help in addressing their concerns about the development of languages and literature in J&K.
 Former Union Minister and MP, Prof. Saifuddin Soz presided over the function.Minister for Tourism and Culture, Nawang Rigzin Jora, Minister for Public Enterprises, Peerzada Muhammad Sayeed and Minister for Youth Services & Sports, R. S. Chib were present on the occasion.
 On this occasion, an exhibition of rare manuscripts, paintings, calligraphy specimen and Academy’s publications was organized. Among others the interaction was attended by Prof. Margoob banihali, Ghulam Nabi Gowhar, Naseem Shifayee, Rukhsana Jabeen, Noor Shah, Prof. Farooq Fayaz, Prof. Majeed Muzmir, Prof. Mujrooh Rashid, Raja Nazar Bonyari, Ajit Singh Mastana, Nisar Naseem, Sajad Hussain Syed Raza and Azim Khan.
