BOSE functions without Secretary
Panel Proposes Four Names
AKSHAY AZAD
Jammu, July 22: The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (BOSE) is functioning without a Secretary for the last one month even as a search committee, constituted by the government, has suggested four names for the coveted post.
Sources told Greater Kashmir that after the retirement of MS Beloria the post of Secretary was lying vacant since June 30. “Beloria retired in March but was given three months extension”, sources said adding that he was due to get another extension but same was denied at the last movement.
Sources claimed that non-fulfillment of the post was adversely affecting the functioning of BOSE. “The issuance of certificates, purchase committee working, paper settings for various Board exams, new policies, declaration of results and construction works require nod of Secretary but as the post remained vacant the work has suffered”, an official in the BOSE claimed.
The school education department had constituted a Search Committee to recommend the names of the possible officials, who could be appointed as the Secretary BOSE.
Sources said that the committee has recommended four names for the post. “The proposed names included Joint Secretaries of BOSE Dr Javed Khateeb and Dr Renu Goswami, Principal of Science College Satinder Singh and Prof Meenakshi Kailm of Jammu University”.
However, the education department is yet to take a final decision on the proposed name, sources said adding that a formal request has again been made to the Commissioner Secretary School Education to speed up the process in this regard.
