Muratza Khan manhandled Bakaya, alleges NC
Jammu, July 22: The PDP legislator Murtaza Khan had a heated argument with the former Chief Secretary and the National Conference MLC Vijay Bakaya here earlier this week, sources said.
They said brawl ensued after Khan demanded that Bakaya should not be the member of the House Committee formed to look into the land acquired for the Samba Industrial Estate phase-III. Bakaya, according to the sources, told Khan that “Who is he to decide who should be the part of the committee.”
“Following which Khan lost his cool and entered into heated argument with Bakaya,” sources said, adding that incident happened around four days ago.
On Sunday the NC spokesman issued a statement saying, “NC has taken a serious exception to the uncalled for behavior of Murtaza Khan MLC of the PDP, wherein Murtaza Khan manhandled and abused Vijay Bakaya MLC of the party.”
The spokesman said that it is unfortunate that lawmaker resorted to lawbreaking. “A legislator is an honorable member of the House and is supposed to observe all the decencies of the system. The behaviour of Murtaza Khan is unfortunate and amounts to making mockery of his being an honorable Member of the Council,” he added.
He said the legislature party has demanded unconditional apology from Khan and has also appealed the Chairman JK Legislative Council to take strict action against Khan, so that in future nothing of this sort happens. “The PDP President should control her members as they are acting like ruffians out of sheer frustration. Their such actions out of sheer frustration are not going to bring PDP back to power,” said Ajay Sadhotra Leader of the House in the J&K Legislative Council.
