Tarigami gets children hospital cleaned
SMC put to work in cantonment domain
Srinagar, July 23: Even though Sonawar area, which houses children hospital falls in the domain of the cantonment board, the Environment House Committee asked the Srinagar Municipal Corporation to get the healthcare institute cleaned.
After the locals who seek the transfer of their “neglected area” into SMC domain, a legislator seems to have thought on similar lines by asking the civic body to do the needful instead of the cantonment board.
“On the instructions of MY Tarigami, Chairman, Environment House Committee, a massive sanitation drive was launched in GB Panth Hospital which otherwise does not fall within the Municipal limits,” the SMC media officer said in a statement.
She said the drive was held under the supervision of Chief Sanitation Officer Manzoor Ahmed Turray.
“Sucker machines along with the men and other machinery were deputed within the premises of the hospitals to clear off the grey water accumulated there and for the treatment of sewage,” the SMC handout added.
“All the waste material including garbage was collected and taken to the SMC land filling dumping site Achan,” it added.
A similar drive was held at LD Hospital as well while fumigants were also put to use.
