BLAST AT POLICE STATION
GK NEWS NETWORK
Jammu, July 24: Police today placed two of its personnel under suspension and ordered a probe in the blast which claimed life of a PWD supervisor and injured around eight persons in Bani area of Kathua district.
Official sources said that beside an internal probe by the Police, the district administration has also initiated a magisterial Inquiry to ascertain the circumstances leading to the blast.
The district administration Kathua initiated an enquiry under the supervision of Sub Divisional Magistrate Bani, Rajinder Sharma, while district police administration has constituted a Special Team under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police, Zahid Manhas, to probe the matter.
Sources said that as part of enquiry initiated by district administration Kathua, SDM Bani, Rajinder Sharma, today seized stock register of Public Works Department (PWD), recorded statements of officials of PWD, injured victims of blast and personnel of CRPF who were present in the Police station when blast occurred.
Official sources claimed that the PWD Sub division Basohli was not intimated by Police Station Bani about the shifting of explosive material from the Police Station. “The PWD officials were not shifting the explosive material on their whims but were asked by the officials of Bani Police station” sources said, adding that due to these reasons two police personnel were placed under suspension.
The SDM is likely to submit his enquiry report to Deputy Commissioner Kathua on Wednesday after recording the statement of police personnel, who were present in the police station Bani at the time of the blast.
Additional Superintendent of Police Kathua, (ASP) Zahid Manhas told Greater Kashmir that two policemen including Head constable Bhushan Lal (Munshi) and constable Muhammad Arif (Santri) at Bani Police station were placed under suspension after preliminary investigation.
“We have also initiated an enquiry of entire episode and I will be personally visiting Bani to ascertain the facts” he said, adding that further action would only be taken after completion of enquiry.
