JK ropes in National Geography Channel to promote tourism

Srinagar, July 26: In order to showcase the varied tourism potential of J&K, the State Tourism Department in association with the Union Ministry of Tourism is in the process of making a promotional film.
The film will be telecast on different channels for the knowledge of people across the globe for which National Geography Channel has been assigned the job for its preparation.
The film was put to preliminary screening in presence of Minister for Tourism and Culture, Nawang Rigzin Jora, Minister of State for Tourism, Culture and Home, Nasir Aslam Wani, Commissioner Secretary Tourism and Culture, Atal Dulloo, Managing Director JKTDC, Satesh Nehru, Director Tourism Kashmir, Talat Parvez, here today.
The Film focuses on the natural beauty of the State, with main focus on the captive tourism products and services, art, culture, heritage and adventure spots including Buddhist culture, an official statement said.
Professional film makers have prepared the film and now final touches are being given. It is expected that the film would be ready in couple of weeks.
The film will also be used in travel and trade marts, road shows, exhibitions to showcase and promote the rich tourism potential of the State at National and International levels.
The film has been made available to Government of Jammu and Kashmir on complementary basis by International team of National Geographical Channel.
Appreciating the efforts of the organization for producing the film on the tourism potential of the State, Jora suggested the concerned to ensure inclusion of niche tourism places of each region in the film for wide publicity through global media.
