PHD Chamber to hold 3-day exhibition in Srinagar

Srinagar, July 2: PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry with the support of government of J&K would organize a 3-day Agri Exhibition-cum-Seminar “HortiTech” here in the last week of August.
In this connection a high level team led by Ms Susmita Shekhar, Secretary General of PHD Chamber of Commerce along with Mustaq Ahmad Chaya, Co-chairman, J&K State Committee & Dr Kalyan Goswami, Secretary met Ghulam Hassan Mir, Minister for Agriculture and Shyam Lal Sharma, Minister for Horticulture and Floriculture and discussed about the objective of the event.
The team informed the minister that the main focus of the Horti-Tech would be Saffron, Potato, Apple, Pear etc that constitute 70 per cent of the farm/horticulture production in Jammu and Kashmir.
“The endeavour would not only help sustainable growth of the state agrarian economy but also make horticulture competitive and profitable,” the team in a statement said.
“There is a dire need to promote commercial Horticulture which not only paves the way for crop diversification for better economic gain but also helps in risk mitigation for the farmers.”
