WATER SHORTAGE HITS SHAH ANWAR COLONY

Srinagar, July 2: Residents of Shah Anwar Colony, Hyderpora By-Pass, are facing acute drinking water scarcity as water supply to the area has significantly diminished in recent days, residents say.
The residents have urged the PHE Department to expedite the linking of the new water pipeline, which is expected to ease the water shortage in the Hyderpora area.
Alternatively, PHE Department should make drinking water available through other viable means, the residents maintain.
"We have to collect drinking water from taps during night time, when, again, water supply is extremely low", said a resident. The people of the area maintain that this situation has arisen despite their taking extreme caution in using tap water exclusively for their home use.
"Almost all the people in the area have installed bore-wells, whose water is used for gardening and other non-domestic purposes", another resident said.
