Bandipora killing war crime: Hurriyat (G)

Srinagar, July 30: Terming the Bandipora killing as an “open war crime”, the Hurriyat Conference (G) Monday alleged that armed forces were “indulging in these crimes on large scale in Jammu & Kashmir.”
“Until the army officers, involved in these crimes, are made answerable before the International Court of Justice, these killing would continue to take place in Jammu & Kashmir,” said a spokesman of the Hurriyat in a statement today.
Commenting on the details coming to fore regarding the Bandipora killing, the Hurriyat spokesman said “it seemed to be the incident like Michal fake encounter which was staged by the army for winning rewards and medals by making an innocent a scapegoat.”
Demanding a thorough probe into the Bandipora killing by some international agency, the spokesman alleged that the “army officers were involved in hundreds of such cases in the last 22 years in Jammu Kashmir. The army officers have been perpetrating such heinous crimes only to get promotions and medals. Innocent civilians are taken in custody, killed and dubbed as militants. The army then claims that these militants were killed in encounter or while crossing the border.  Today we see the bodies innocent civilians are buried in nameless graves.”
The spokesman question that “where from did the army informer got the guns which he had given to the slain youth and the survivor Nazir Ahmad. We may never get any answer to it. For, the investigators themselves are part of this mafia.”
