Rafi Day postponed

Srinagar, July 30: The Rafi Day being observed every year to commemorate death anniversary of legendry singer Muhammad Rafi has been postponed due to ongoing Ramazan.
The day is being observed on July 31 by Valley artists under the coordination of broadcaster Ghulam Rasool Akhoon for several years.
Akhoon told Greater Kashmir that for past several years “We have been observing this day by singing the melodious songs of the maestro.”
He said on this day the young artists from nooks and corners of the Valley pay their tribute to the “great singer who will always remain alive in the hearts of his fans”.
Akhoon said the new date for observing the commemorating function will be issued soon.
To mention, Muhammad Rafi (December 24, 1924 – July 31, 1980) was an Indian recording artist who is considered by many to be the greatest Indian male playback singer of all time in Hindi Film Industry.
In his lifetime, he was awarded the National Film Award, Best National Singer Award and six Filmfare Awards.
