Reconstructing shrine
This refers to the Mirwaiz Umar Farooq’s statement regarding reconstruction of the gutted shrine of Dasteer Sahib (RA) at Khanyar recently. I completely agree with Mirwaiz Umar that New Delhi should stop playing politics over the issue of religion. It is better if politics is played within the ambit of politics only. Religion must be kept away from it. So Mirwaiz is right in asserting that people of Kashmir have enough magnanimity to re-build the shrine without taking aid from outside.
Indeed, the Government of India should stay away from playing politics over the shrine incident. The shrine loss is a collective tragedy that has befallen Kashmir. And it is the prime responsibility of the people of Kashmir to come forward and help in recreating this revered shrine to its pristine glory. Let’s all stay united and not let ourselves fall prey to the vested interests who want to exploit the situation to meet their political interests.
