Dr Naheed Soz nominated HLC member on status of women

Srinagar, July 4: Government of India has nominated, Dr Naheed Soz, Managing Director of Jammu and Kashmir Women’s Development Corporation (JKWDC), to a High Level Committee (HLC) on the status of women.
 The  HLC would undertake a comprehensive study related to gender issues in order to understand the status and development of women since 1989. It would further evaluate appropriate necessary policy interventions based on a contemporary assessment of women’s needs.
 The 15-member panel would examine the overall status of women including the socio-economic, health and nutritional, legal and political status disaggregated by rural and urban population, economic and social position. The analysis is expected to take into account cross-regional differences and focus on inequalities both within and outside the household.
 Dr Naheed Soz’s nomination to this prestigious panel comes on the heels of a major National Award for the Jammu and Kashmir Women’s Development Corporation (JKWDC) as the best State Channelizing Agency of National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation for the year 2010-11, for empowerment of persons with disabilities by Ministry of Social Justice and  Empowerment GOI.The award was presented to Dr Naheed Soz by Mukul Wasnik Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment.
