No violence
This refers to the tragic burning of the shrine of Dastgeer Sahib (RA) in Old Srinagar. I was disappointed to see the kind of public reaction that followed this incident. People resorted to violence and even set the fire-tender on fire. What kind of an approach is this? We must understand that shrines are not a personal property of anyone. So the grief and loss is collective. Everyone felt about the incident, irrespective of religious ideology. So there is no point behaving irresponsibly in such a situation. The Hurriyat leaders were also not spared? What is the message that is going out? That we are simply hooligans? It is time we learnt to mourn with patience and silence.
