Pulwama produces 5 lakh litre milk
Pulwama, July 4: The daily milk production in this district has touched 5 lakh litres, and the cattle population has reached 3 lakh. In Islamabad (Anantnag) the milk production was recorded 2 lack ton last fiscal.
This was revealed at a high level meeting of officers of Animal and Sheep Husbandry Department of Pulwama, Kulgam and Islamabad (Anantnag) districts. The meeting at Pulwama Administrative Complex was convened by the Minister of Sheep and Animal Husbandry, Science and Technology, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi to review the functioning of the departments. Taking review of Animal Husbandry sector in Islamabad (Anantnag) district, the Minister was told that during last fiscal annual milk production was recorded at 2 lakh ton while cattle population has reached to 4 lakh, while population of poultry birds has touched 4 lakh figure. The Minister was told that in Shopian district Rs 76 lakh were spent under Animal Husbandry sector.
