Governor stresses for importance of girl child education
Inaugurates new block at Devki Arya Putri Pathshala
Srinagar, July 6: Governor, NN Vohra on Friday inaugurated the newly constructed additional block at the Devki Arya Putri Pathshala Girls High School at Hazuri Bagh in the City.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor observed that the education of girl child was of vital importance for achieving sustained growth and development.
In this context, he stressed the need for priority attention being devoted by the State and the society for ensuring that every girl child gets adequate opportunities of education.
“Referring to the Devki Arya Putri Pathshala, Girls High School, which has been providing quality education since 1910 to the girls belonging to all segments of society, particularly those from the less-privileged segments, the Governor said that the State Government and Civil Society must support such institutions which not only provide quality education but also make an important contribution towards strengthening brotherhood, national integration and harmonious understandings,” an official handout said.
The Governor hoped that in the coming years this “exceptional inter-community institution would grow further and progress.” He announced that resources would be found for providing 20 computers to this school to facilitate computer education of the girls.
Speaking on the occasion, Veena Chandhok, Principal, Devki Arya Putri Pathshala Girls High School, thanked the Governor for taking keen interest in the development of the school and for providing all possible support to it.
Samina Nazia, the school Administrator, dwelt on the academic and extra-curricular activities of this institution. On this occasion, the school children presented a colourful cultural programme based on the theme of communal harmony.
