PDP misleading people on power scenario: Slathia
Jammu, July 7: Annoyed over the recent criticism of Jammu and Kashmir government by PDP over poor power scenario, a senior NC leader and minister today slammed the opposition for indulging in an "act of deceit" for petty political gains.
Despite much hue and cry over the present power scenario, the PDP did nothing to generate a single MW of electricity during its tenure, Industries and Commerce Minister S S Slathia said at Vijaypur.
The Omar Abdullah-led government has undertaken a series of systemic reforms to overhaul, upgrade and augment the power sector, he said.
Describing the current power scenario a result of "prolonged neglect", he said it takes time to set things right by sustained and focused attention and not by "hollow sloganeering" as being done by PDP.
Negative approach adopted by the PDP reflects the political and moral immaturity of its leadership, he said.
The NC-Congress government took the historic step of empowering Panchayats and giving them the responsibility to look after the day to day work of 14 departments, he said.
