High time to accept Sagheer committee report: Dr Mustafa Kamaal

Jammu, July 8: Additional General Secretary National Conference, Dr. Mustafa Kamaal on Sunday said that it was high time that New Delhi makes up past blunders and win the hearts of the people by accepting the recommendations of the Sagheer working group on centre – state relations.
Reacting sharply against the statement of Janta Party (BJP) leader Arun Jately that it was due to the wrong ideology of Jawaharlal Nehru that Article 370 was incorporated in Jammu and Kashmir and Delhi agreement of 1952, he said it was a misconceived notion.
Dr Kamal was addressing a public gathering at different places of Samba district here today.
“Both these provisions of our National Constitution have been incorporated by the consent of both houses of Parliament in which late Shyama Prasad Mukerjee was a member of Lok Sabha and industries Minister in Nehru’s Cabinet. It is thus endorsed by the people of India and not a creation of Jawharlal Nehru.”
He said the problem started when these solemn commitments by the people of India through their representatives in the first elected parliament of India was unilaterally eroded in a systematic way, thus committing treachery against the people of J&K state. This is the root cause of alienation of the people of J&K from the Indian mainstream.
“It is high time that New Delhi makes up for past blunders and wins the hearts of the people by accepting the recommendations of the Sageer working group on center – state relations,” he added.
