Nasir inaugurates CII Corporate cricket match

Srinagar, July 8: Minister of State for Home, Tourism and Culture on Sunday said that principles of sports and sportsmanship apply very well to businesses too. Sincere, dedicated and transparent businesses get long-term benefits and these are the virtues that one can imbibe from sports.
He said this while unveiling the trophy at the inaugural ceremony of the CII Corporate Cricket Match between CII-XI and Traffic-XI.
IG Traffic Kashmir, Muneer Ahmed Khan, further added that handpicking & harnessing of individual talent, which is abundant in this country, is very crucial to encourage the sports culture in the country. CII can play a pivotal role by hand holding the deserving potential players.
Traffic-11 won the toss and elected to bat first with the help of fast 35 runs from Haseeb ur Rehman Traffic -11 the team scored 194 runs for 4 in 20 overs. Replying to the total set by Traffic -11 CII -11 even the 90 runs partnership which included fast 51 not out innings from Waseem Trumboo could not help the team win the match although he enthused the crowd with his brilliant hitting pulled and the team ended up scoring 165 runs for 5 in 20 overs. Wasim, who happens to be the Director of Tramboo Cement Industries (TCI), was awarded best batsman.
The cricket match was an effort put up by the leading corporate in Jammu and Kashmir, Senior Officials of Traffic Police Kashmir and the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Players Association to hone the sports talent.
In the post match presentation captain of CII 11 team Farooq Amin who is a leading personality from the state initially took this initiative and with the help of other top notch corporate in Kashmir and the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) under the idea of picking the best sports talent in the state and pushing it ahead to play at state and national level championships, especially in cricket.
Amin said, “We want to build a better Kashmir where the youth are self-motivated to secure their futures and do not just hanker after government jobs. Once the talented sportsmen of Jammu and Kashmir get involved with the corporate sector it is but eventual that they will find better career opportunities.” Amin who as captain also put in his best to secure the match for the CII 11 also said that winning was never the point and the real spirit was sportsmanship.
