Windstorm affected to get adequate relief: Sham

JAMMU, JULY 8: Minister for Health, Horticulture & Floriculture Sham Lal Sharma today said the damage caused to several habitations of these areas has been assessed by the local Revenue authorities as per the instructions of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Financial assistance will be provided by the government shortly.
 The Minister was addressing a public meeting at Akhnoor here today.
 Responding to the local needs and demands Sham said that government was conscious of the difficulties of the people of these far-flung and border areas. He said these areas are now given focused attention and many special schemes and programmes have been devised to match their requirements and needs.
 The Minister said that Jammu division has a vast potential especially in cultivation of mushroom, tomatoes, potato and other vegetables and asked for identification of new areas for the same. He said that more efforts were required to strengthen the agriculture and horticulture sectors and enhance profitability of agro-based ventures so that educated youth are motivated to pick up their careers in horticulture, floriculture and allied sectors adding that for this purpose government was providing necessary facilities to the youth who would opt for agriculture profession.
 Earlier, the Minister inaugurated Global Food Bazaar at Akhnoor and also visited the site of upcoming 100 bedded hospital in Akhnoor.
