Lokpal functioning will render PDP leaderless: Dr. Kamal
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar May 31: National Conference Additional General Secretary Dr. Mustafa Kamal Thursday said that the Peoples Democratic Party “should not shout from the rooftops over the issue of corruption which the present dispensation is taking care of.” “This is unlike the Opposition which made the State Accountability Commission redundant,” he said in a statement today.
Addressing a day-long Party Convention at Shallbug, Ganderbal, Dr Kamal said: “The Government led by Omar Abdullah has taken exemplary steps by giving full powers to the Accountability Commission to get the state rid of corruption and corrupt elements. Omar Abdullah is committed to ensure that the state is corruption-free and has taken a number of initiatives to fight the menace.”
Lashing out at the PDP leadership, Kamal said the “PDP talks about Lokpal and corruption but have forgotten that maximum of their ministers were involved in corrupt practices, looting the state exchequer with both hands. If the Lokpal starts functioning in JK, then PDP will be leaderless. That is the reason they opposed the revival of State Vigilance Commission (SVC) and opposed the proposed name for its Chairman. It was the fear of being exposed that is preventing the opposition from ensuring revival of SVC.”
Kamal said the NC President Dr. Farooq Abdullah took over the reins of the government only after he was assured that “ Sky is the limit.” He said: “We want autonomy to be restored. Dr. Farooq Abdullah employed around 165000 employees, constructed around 2400 buildings which include heath centers. He reconstructed around 450 bridges and opposition is taking about development.”
Kamal said: “ It is because of the sacrifices of the leaders and workers of NC that other parties or leaders are able to live in peace and talk so freely today “
