Yateem Foundation conducts 1st Annual HESP
75 Candidates compete for 40 scholarships
JAMMU, JUNE 10: At least 75 candidates, including 26 girls, from three districts and five tehsils of Jammu Division appeared in Jammu and Kashmir Yateem Foundation’s 1st Annual Higher Education Scholarship Programme HESP -2012 Entrance Examination Jammu, at six different centres across the region today.
The programme offers higher educational scholarships exclusively for orphan, poor and needy aspirants irrespective of their caste, creed, region or religion, seeking financial support to continue their studies from Matric onwards.
Candidates from Doda, Ramban, Kishtwar, Bhaderwah, Thathri, Banihal Padder and Marwah appeared in the test.
Besides at Bait-ul-Hilal Orpahange Hudri Kishtiwar, J&K Yateem Foundation in collaboration with Government City Middle School Doda; Boys Higher Secondary School Bhaderwah; Government Boys High School Thathri, Government Higher Secondary School Yourdu, Marwah and Government Higher secondary School Banihal, had made adequate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the entrance examination.
The foundation has announced 40 scholarships for the year 2012 in Jammu Division. The selected candidates would get Rs 4000 per annum which would incur yearly expenditure of Rs 1.60 Lacs to the Foundation.
Since 2002, 400 scholarships have been awarded under HESP by J&K Yateem Foundation with over Rs 60.06 Lacs spent under the programme.
