Srinagar, June 11: Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj (YAIKS) Monday called off their six-day protest following “assurance” from the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah that their grievances would be addressed.
 The YAIKS members were on strike against the “government’s failure to implement Prime Minister Employment and Rehabilitation Package for Kashmiri migrants.”
 The YAIKS President R K Bhat told Greater Kashmir that they were called by Chief Minister to his residence last night.  “We told the Chief Minister that PM had announced 6,000 jobs for Kashmiri migrants in the Valley but till date only 1442 jobs have been provided. The Prime Minister had announced the package three years ago,” Bhat said. 
 He said “we informed the Chief Minister that 1558 migrants are still awaiting jobs and we want resettlement of employees in the Valley and employment of 3000 migrants in second phase.”
 Bhat claimed that Chief Minister assured them that their demands would be met. “After CM’s assurance we decided to call off our protest,” he said.
 Pertinently, members of YAIKS were on protest at Pratap Park here for the past six days.
