Srinagar, June 12: The Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Health Officer, Dr Rubeena Shaheen Tuesday claimed to have sealed 12 food manufacturing units in the City for making “misbranded and substandard” items .
 An official handout said Dr Rubeena along with her team of Food Safety Officers and a Municipal Magistrate raided manufacturing food units in areas including HMT, Barthana, Qamarwari and Noor Bagh.
 “Around twelve units running illegally were sealed in these different areas for manufacturing misbranded and substandard food items mainly consumed by children. All the legal formality for launching prosecution against the offenders is being processed,” the handout said.
 Large quantity of seized items were destroyed on spot, it added.
 Dr Rubeena said the accused used to manufacture fakes of some of prominent brands like Cadbury Gems. “Presumably the consignment used to be sent to countryside,” she added.
