BROTHER KILLS SISTER FOR HONOUR IN UDHAMPUR

Udhampur, June 12: A youth was arrested by the police, here today, for allegedly killing his elder sister because of her relationship with a boy.
 Police said that the preliminary investigation into a mysterious murder of Ushad Devi alias Neetu of Thatti Pathwad village of this district pointed out that it was a case of honour killing.
 The younger brother of the deceased, Rajesh Singh alias Deepu son of Swarn Singh, was arrested on the basis of the investigation conducted by the police and subsequently he has confessed his guilt and has been booked for murder.
 Police said that the victim Usha Devi alias Neetu was in love with a boy of tehsil Billawar and had wished to marry him. “The couple was in contact with each other over phone and wanted to marry. Neetu had also disclosed her desire to her younger brother Deepu” police said.
 “However, the boy entered into an alteration with Deepu when the two talked over the pone following which the accused strongly objected to the relation and asked her sister to give up the thought of marrying the boy”, police sources said.
 “On June, 5, 2012 when the deceased and her mother were alone in the house, the accused shot his elder sister with an unlicensed weapon when she slept” police said.
 After initiated the proceedings under section 174 Cr.PC, a police team visited the house of deceased and recovered the weapon of offence and seized several other evidences.
