Div Com reviews water transport, Radio Taxi

Water transport trial run on June 16

Srinagar, June 12: Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon reviewed the arrangements for Inland Water Transport and Radio Taxi, Tuesday at a high level meeting.
 An official handout said the meeting was attended by IGP Traffic, Muneer Ahmad Khan, Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Baseer Ahmad Khan, Vice Chairman Srinagar Development Authority, Khawaja Farooq Renzushah, Joint Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, AM Raina, Regional Transport Officer, Kashmir, Muhammad Anees, Joint Transport Commissioner, Sheikh Fayaz, Deputy Director Tourism, Azmat Ali, Executive Engineer Irrigation and Flood Control and service providers Kashmir Motors and Kehwa Express.
 It was decided that a trail run of the water transport will be done on June 16 and trail of Radio Taxi on June 22, 2012.
 “All impediments would be removed and administration would provide all necessary help and assistance to ensure that these schemes are put in place for the benefit of the local population Special Ticket Counters shall also be established at Airport and Railway Station for the benefit of people,” an official handout said.
 It was emphasised that adequate safety measures are taken with respect to water transport including providing of life jackets, divers and para-medical facilities to counter any mishap. The water transport shall ply from Pantha Chowk to Chattabal Wier.
