Hajj-2012 draw of lots today
Srinagar, June 13: To finalize the list of aspirants for performing Hajj-2012, the state Hajj Committee is organizing draw of lots on Thursday at the Hajj house in Srinagar.
Citing the time that elapsed in waiting for sanction of additional seats from the centre as reason for the delay in the draw of lots, the Executive Officer State Hajj Committee Dr Abdul Salam Mir told local news agency KNS that the list of selected Hajj aspirants will be finalized by Thursday evening. “Aspirants don’t need to worry, we will finalize the list on Thursday”, the officer said.
“The list will be available on the internet and we will also publish it through newspapers”, he added.
The Executive Officer said that the state Hajj Committee had asked for additional quota of seats for the state. “The quota for the state was not sufficient, that is why we asked for additional seats”, said the officer. “We have got an additional quota of 890 seats from the centre in addition to the already sanctioned quota”, he added.
The state Hajj committee is scheduled to hold a draw of lots for 2665 seats in addition to the already reserved 3829 seats. “The state has now got a total quota of 5604 seats this year out of which 3829 are already reserved”, the officer informed. KNS
