Shawl exports from Valley expected to zoom by 20 pc in 2013: Kashmir Inc

Srinagar, June 13: Here is some good news for the shawl exporters.
 The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) today said that on its persistent requests, government of India has included Shawls under Focus Product Benefit Scheme.
 “Such a step on the part of Government of India shall boost export of Shawls,” it said, while expecting that the Shawl export in 2013 shall increase by 20 per cent.
 In a statement here today it said the chamber had made repeated representations to Director General, Foreign Trade, government of India and other authorities seeking inclusion of shawls under Focus Product Benefit Scheme.
 It said the product ‘shawl’ was dropped from the Duty Entitlement Pass Book Scheme (DEPB).
 “The government of India has now granted our request and included shawls under Focus Product Benefit Scheme,” it said.
