Inter-College symposium held

Pulwama, June 14: An Inter College symposium on the theme “Current Environmental Problems & Solutions” was held at Government Degree College, Pulwama.
 Students and teachers presented their papers and delivered speeches to sensitize the audience about the water, soil and air pollution. They lamented over the apathy of the local population towards our deteriorating environment. All speakers stressed the need to bring about a drastic change in our attitudes and perception towards the environment.
 Tawheed Majeed Shah of 3rd Year, Altaf Ahmad Khan of 3rd Year and Showkat Ahmad Dar of 2nd Year were adjudged respectively the 1st, 2nd & 3rd position holders. Prizes were awarded & certificates of participation were distributed among the participant students. The symposium ended on a vote of thanks presented by the College convener debates and seminars.
 Earlier as a part of the environmental week celebrations, the students & staff went for a cleaning drive of the canal running through the midst of the college campus.
 The function was presided over by the College Principal Prof Mushtaq Ali Mir, and the proceedings of the symposium were conducted by Dr Sheikh Afaq of the Department of Zoology.
