UN Resolutions key to resolve Kashmir: Shabir Shah

Srinagar, June 15: Senior Hurriyat Conference (M) leader and Democratic Freedom Party president Shabir Ahmad Shah Friday said the UN Resolutions formed the constitutional and historical basis of the Kashmir issue.
 “The freedom movement in the state owes it origin to the UN Resolutions. The people of Kashmir started their struggle for freedom on the basis of these resolutions,” said Shah, addressing a public meeting at Chrar-e-Sharief in Budgam district after offering Fateh khawani at the shrine of Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Wali (RA) today.
 Shah said Kashmir issue was the main cause of tension between India and Pakistan and other issues including water and Sir Creek were of secondary importance. He reiterated the pledge to continue “struggle till the objective of freedom is completely achieved.”
 Speaking on the occasion, senior leader and National Front chairman Nayeem Ahmad Khan said it was imperative for all pro-freedom leaders and parties to have unity of thought and action for taking the ongoing freedom struggle to its logical end. “It is the responsibility of pro-freedom leadership not to let the spirit of freedom cool down and it is the responsibility of pro-freedom people to extend whole hearted support to the leadership,” he said.
