Cloudy sky brings relief Temp dips

JAMMU: Reeling under a torrid summer, residents of Jammu Monday heaved a sigh of relief from the scorching heat as the mercury plunged to 39.3 degree Celsius –five notches below the maximum temperature recorded on the other day.
 With cloudy sky since early morning, the people heaved a sigh of relief from the heat wave prevailing in the area for past two weeks.
 As per Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature in the winter capital was recorded at 39.3 degree Celsius and minimum temperature remained at 29.6 degree Celsius, up from Sunday’s 28.7 degree Celsius.
 Director, Indian Meteorological Department, Jammu and Kashmir, Sonam Lotus told Greater Kashmir that Jammu and its surrounding areas observed cloudy weather conditions today which led to sliding down of temperature to 5 degree.  The humidity during the day time was 31 to 38 percent, he added.
