Mirwaiz anguished at desecration of holy Quran
Srinagar, June 18: The chairman of Hurriyat Conference (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Monday expressed deep anguish and outrage over, what he said, the desecration of holy Quran at Bandipora in north Kashmir, terming it as highly condemnable act.
“The act of desecration of holy Quran is extremely intolerable for Muslims,” said Mirwaiz while addressing a public meeting at historical Aali Masjid, Eidgah, here in connection with Meraj Alam (SAW), demanding an impartial probe into this heartrending incident.
Commenting on the ongoing movement, Mirwaiz said the people by and large have offered great sacrifices in terms of life and property for achieving the goal and the process of offering sacrifices was still going on. “But at this phase of struggle we need to demonstrate high moral character and steadfastness at individual and collective levels,” he said, stressing the need for demonstration of unity in thought and action by all people.
